Pigeon Proofing
Pigeon Proofing provides long-term deterrents to prevent pigeons from nesting.
Pigeon Proofing
Pigeons can cause a range of problems for property owners, from structural damage to health risks due to droppings. At Sun Pest Control, we offer a comprehensive range of pigeon proofing solutions designed to protect your property and prevent pigeons from roosting or nesting. With humane, safe, and effective methods, our experienced team can help keep your building pigeon-free and ensure a cleaner, safer environment.
Why Professional Pigeon Proofing is Important
Pigeons may seem harmless, but they can quickly become a nuisance when they nest on buildings, leaving behind droppings and debris that damage structures and create unsanitary conditions. Here’s why professional pigeon proofing is essential:
-
Property Protection
Pigeons can cause extensive damage to rooftops, ledges, gutters, and other areas, blocking drainage systems and corroding surfaces with their acidic droppings. Without proper proofing, maintenance and repair costs can quickly escalate.
-
Health and Sanitation
Pigeon droppings can harbour bacteria and parasites, posing health risks to occupants. Accumulated droppings can also lead to slippery surfaces and unclean conditions around your property.
-
Long-Term Prevention
Attempting to remove pigeons without addressing the root cause often leads to reinfestation. Professional pigeon proofing ensures that all entry points are secured, preventing pigeons from returning to the property.
At Sun Pest Control, we offer a range of humane pigeon proofing solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of your property. Whether it’s a residential building, commercial complex, or industrial site, our services help protect your space from unwanted bird activity.
Our Pigeon Proofing Methods
We understand that each property has its unique challenges when it comes to pigeon proofing. That’s why we offer a variety of solutions, each designed to effectively deter pigeons while being safe and humane:
-
Bird Netting Systems
Bird netting creates a physical barrier that prevents pigeons from accessing specific areas such as rooftops, balconies, and courtyards. This discreet and durable solution is highly effective for large open spaces, preventing pigeons from nesting or roosting. Our bird netting systems are tailored to the dimensions and needs of your property, offering long-lasting protection.
-
Bird Spikes
Bird spikes are installed on ledges, rooflines, and other narrow surfaces where pigeons like to perch. These spikes create an uneven surface that makes it uncomfortable for birds to land, deterring them without causing harm. Bird spikes are an effective, low-profile solution that works well for a wide range of architectural features.
-
Bird Wire Systems
Bird wire systems are a subtle deterrent that involves tensioned wires placed along areas where pigeons might land. The wire creates an unstable landing surface, discouraging birds from settling. Ideal for window ledges, signage, and parapets, bird wire systems are effective while remaining unobtrusive, blending in with the building’s architecture.
-
Bird Free Gel
Bird-free gel is a non-toxic deterrent that emits natural oils pigeons find unpleasant, making them avoid treated areas. This gel is ideal for spaces where physical barriers may not be suitable, offering a safe and effective way to keep pigeons at bay without impacting the aesthetics of your property.
-
Avishock Systems
The Avishock system is an innovative bird control solution that uses a mild electric pulse to deter pigeons from landing. Safe and humane, the Avishock system provides a long-term solution to pigeon problems, creating an effective barrier that deters pigeons without causing harm.
-
Solar Panels Proofing
Pigeons often nest beneath solar panels, which can lead to blocked airflow, wiring damage, and decreased panel efficiency. Our solar panel proofing services include the installation of protective barriers around your solar panels to prevent pigeon access, ensuring that your system operates safely and efficiently without interference.
-
Specialised Cleaning of Bird Guano
Bird droppings, or guano, can cause significant staining and deterioration on surfaces, as well as pose health risks. Our specialised guano cleaning service removes accumulated droppings safely and thoroughly, restoring cleanliness to your property and helping to protect against material damage and contamination.
Each of these pigeon proofing methods is designed to be humane and environmentally responsible, ensuring that we provide effective protection while respecting wildlife.

FAQ's
How can I tell if I need pigeon proofing?
If you notice large numbers of pigeons roosting on your roof, ledges, or solar panels, along with excessive droppings, blocked gutters, or nesting debris, pigeon-proofing is necessary to prevent property damage and health risks.
What methods does Sun Pest Control use for pigeon proofing?
We use humane deterrents such as bird netting, spikes, wire systems, and solar panel guards to prevent pigeons from roosting or nesting on your property.
Is pigeon proofing a permanent solution?
When installed correctly, pigeon proofing provides long-term protection. Regular maintenance and occasional adjustments may be needed to ensure effectiveness over time.
Why should I choose professional pigeon proofing over DIY solutions?
DIY methods often fail to fully deter pigeons, as they adapt quickly. Professional pigeon proofing ensures complete, long-lasting protection using industry-approved techniques.
How soon will pigeon proofing start working?
Pigeon activity typically reduces immediately after proofing measures are installed. In some cases, pigeons may return briefly before moving elsewhere, but our solutions ensure they do not roost on your property again.
